With a Bachelor in Visual Merchandising & Commercial Interior Design, many people will notice you and your work. After completing the programme you can, among other things, work with retail planning and concept development by exhibition stands, or with interior and as a stylist. This can for example be done in interior shops, furniture shops, design shops, with event organisers or the big brand stores. Some also choose to be their own contractor.

About the Bachelor’s programme
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Visual Merchandising & Commercial Interior Design provides a theoretical and practical platform for all parts of the field. We make sure that you become a competent concept developer within shops, stands, interior design and decoration.

The programme provides 180 credits.

Curriculum and courses
In the first year you will be introduced to basic topics in Visual Merchandising & Commercial Interior Design, which you will need to be able to prepare spatial, relevant and clear solutions to a given assignment in a shop. You will be introduced to the subject of exposure field’s four main topics: Retail space, decoration, commercial interior and stands. The year offers testing and experimenting with three-dimensional visual design of digital photography, image processing, space analysis, perception, learning lighting, materials, model making, freehand and construction drawing.

In the second year you specialise in the four main topics. You will be working with, among other things, instruments for promotional communication, for photography, imaging, product design, spatial analysis, materials and lighting. International trends in the discipline of exposure, project management and work organisation.

In the third year you will professionalise yourself in the four main topics, and you will work with real projects and clients. You will learn the use of brand language in commercial three-dimensional space, using a variety of communication techniques for various media. Practical projects focusing on visual branding, branding and design of commercial environments in accordance with the brand’s challenges will be emphasised.

Student Travel
The Bachelor’s programme in Visual Merchandising & Commercial Interior Design gives you the opportunity to see trends before they come to Norway. This involves some exciting study trips, including at least one trip to another European country.

Entrance examination
The entrance examination consists of various tasks and challenges for you to solve. The entrance examination should not be feared. It should be embraced! So let your hair down. Before you know it, you will be on a roll, and what seemed hopeless becomes obvious. We wish you good luck!
