THE CRISS-CROSS OF A
BACHELOR IN GRAPHIC DESIGN

With a Bachelor in Graphic Design, you will master the visual elements that put the world at your feet. After completing the programme, you can, among other things, work with CD cover design, product packaging, posters, book covers, web pages, motion graphics, profiles, signs, logos or brochures. As a graphic designer you can, for example, work in public sector, in organisations within the fields of culture and business, in the daily press and magazines, in publishing, in television productions, in design, advertising and communication agencies or you can start your own business.

About the Bachelor’s programme
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Graphic Design educates designers with an eye for good form and the ability to arrange items in a hierarchical and organisationally clear and interesting way.

You will learn to utilise creative conceptual thinking, and have the ability to see things from different angles, creating surprise, attention and interest. You’ll also improve your craft skills and the ability to implement the idea and the form of mastering different techniques both by hand and digitally in a way that makes the final product professional and consistent in every aspect.

The programme provides 180 credits.

Curriculum and courses
In the first year you get a basic introduction to graphic design. You will explore areas like typography, calligraphy, design, colour, paper comprehension, composition, illustration, drawing techniques, photography, and digital tools with updated software in addition to art history. You learn to master both hand-based and screen-based tools for creating good graphic solutions.

The second year immerses you in strategic, market-oriented communication in identity development and branding. You will master visual identity, branding, ethics, media, production theory, consumer and cultural understanding, as well as analysis, problem solving and creative methodology.

In the third year, you specialise in traditional graphic design based on visual communication and branding. You will work on real projects for external clients. You are introduced to how to establish your own business. The year finishes with a dissertation, with the visual part of the dissertation presented at the school’s graduation exhibition.

Entrance examination
The entrance examination consists of various tasks and challenges for you to solve. The entrance examination should not be feared. It should be embraced! So let your hair down. Before you know it, you will be on a roll, and what seemed hopeless becomes obvious. We wish you good luck!
